The number of female startup founders is low. This documentary seeks to inspire a new flock.
The video above is a trailer for the film She Started It – a documentary, co-directed by journalists Insiyah Saeed and Nora Poggi, which follows four different female founders, as they create new startups.
Ghafourifar’s journey as a young, female tech entrepreneur launching her career in Silicon Valley is one of four stories chronicled in the upcoming documentary film, She Started It.
We had the chance to talk to the directors of the film, Nora Poggi and Insiyah Saeed, so that they could share and reflect on the past years of producing and debuting the film
To get that message out there, Poggi hopes the film will get into theaters as well as classrooms to become tools for teachers and parents to tell young girls that they can be anything they want to be.
That’s the perception filmmakers Nora Poggi and Insiyah Saeed are trying to upend with their new documentary, She Started It, because there are many who don’t fit that Mark Zuckerberg-ish mold. The female tech founders who are out there are seldom put in the spotlight.
Nora Poggi and Insiyah Saeed are trying to change what young women think they are capable of by taking a closer look at the lives of female entrepreneurs. The journalists’ documentary, “She Started It,” attempts to answer an age-old question: “How does she do it?”
